Take precausions when doing ballistic stretching

Although ballistic stretching may be appropriate for certain athletic warm-ups as preparation for specific performance movements, the risk of injury outweighs the benefit for most exercisers. Ballistic stretching has the potential of invoking the stretch relex. Muscle spindles can trigger a relex contraction after bein rapidly, suddenly stretched. this creates more tension in the muscle and may lead to injury.
